June, 2023 Update: Excavation work has begun earlier this month and construction will commence. The facility is projected to be completed and operational by the end of 2024.
Overview
The Northeast Water Treatment Facility is a City-initiated project that will coincide with the construction of the City's first Water Tower. The site for the treatment facility is located at 10120 County Road 116, just north of Hunters Ridge.
Properties in the Northeast District are currently being served by Maple Grove's water system. Developing a water system within the Corcoran has been a priority of the City since 2021.
Design
The exterior of the building will be constructed primarily of face brick, as well as manufactured stone and fiber cement board & batten. There will be accents such as windows and awnings that will break up the elevation of each façade. The building will have a flat and a gabled roof. The gabled roof is metal and will be applied with a color coating system to reduce any fading/degradation over time.
The site will feature a variety of landscaping, which will provide screening as well as a natural aesthetic. The landscaping plan includes 36 overstory deciduous trees, 5 overstory conifer trees, 10 ornamental trees, 104 deciduous shrubs and 21 conifer shrubs. The area around the stormwater pond will be seeded with a Minnesota native wet and dry-tolerant seed mix, which will provide a natural feel around the pond.
